Internship in Health and Human Services ![]() WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES INTERNSHIP? These internships are open to students majoring in the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Degree Programs' Health & Human Services concentration. WHEN ARE STUDENTS ELIGIBLE TO DO THEIR INTERNSHIPS? Students need to complete at least 50% of the course work in the major to be eligible for SSC 496 HS1& 496 HS2. The 50% of course work must include PSY 101 and SSC 103 with a grade of C or better and at least 2 courses from the concentration area. WHAT IS THE 1ST STEP FOR A STUDENT WHO WOULD LIKE TO ARRANGE AN INTERNSHIP? The first step is to call 645-2245 and schedule an appointment with Sandra Handy, Internship Director. In this appointment guidelines for arranging an internship and possible internship sites will be discussed. This appointment should be scheduled in the middle of the semester prior to the semester during which the student will be interning. IS AN INTERNSHIP REQUIRED FOR ALL HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES STUDENTS? 2 internships (SSC 496 HS1 & SSC 496 HS2) are required for students in the Community Mental Health & Social Gerontology concentrations. An internship is not required, but is recommended, for students in the Early Childhood Studies concentration. HOW MANY HOURS ARE STUDENTS REQUIRED TO WORK AT THEIR INTERNSHIP?
