Applying to the Major

The minimum grade in the prerequisite course for admission to the cognitive science major is a B-. For all other Social Science IDP majors the minimum grade in the prerequisite course(s) for admission to the major is C (not C-).

Any student who meets one of the following sets of criteria may apply to the major.

I.

  • Do you have a UB GPA of 2.00 or higher?
  • Have you completed the pre-requisite course(s) with the required minimum

          grade(s)?

If you answered yes to both questions, you may be admitted to the major.


II.

  • Do you have a UB GPA or overall GPA (UB and transfer averaged together) of 2.00 or higher?
  • Have you completed 60 or more credit hours?

If you answered yes to both questions, you may be provisionally admitted to the major.


III.

  • Do you have a minimum overall GPA (UB and transfer averaged together) of 2.00 or higher?
  • Have you completed 60 or more credit hours?
  • Have you completed the pre-requisite course(s) with the required minimum

          grade(s)?

If you answered yes to all three questions, you may be provisionally admitted to the major.


Have you previously been admitted provisionally and dismissed from any Interdisciplinary Degree Program major? If yes, then you must wait to re-apply until all criteria in #1 above have been met.


Applying to the Environmental Studies minor

Have you completed the pre-requisite course, SSC 118, with a grade of C or better?

If you answered yes, you may be admitted to the minor.


DARS Reports

Students must submit a DARS report with their applications. Applications without a DARS will not be processed.


Application form

Fill out the application form and bring it with your DARS report to 203 Clemens Hall.
